Abstract
"March 12, 1953. SURROUNDED BUT NOT SACRIFICED, this large redwood tree standing on the site of one of the new Engineering School buildings of the Naval Postgraduate School will remain, even though a special opening for it must be built through a roof. Ens. Gerard Drake, assistant officer in charge of construction at the school, shows it to Lewis Hobart, architect of the original Hotel Del Monte, which now houses the school. (US Navy photo)."
