Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to answer the question: What is the information needed by the activity comptroller to make financial management decisions? This thesis will be limited to the information requirements necessary to manage the Operations and Maintenance, Marine Corps (O&MMC), fund accounts. The O&MMC account was chosen because it is one o^ the larger single appropriations, and it is difficult to manage, due to the increasing pace of operations and the mission of the Marine Corps Informational requirements for fiduciary reporting are taken as a necessity and will not be addressed in this thesis. It will be shown that most comptrollers use essentially the same information, and that priorities of mission, and other constraints determine their tasks and information needs. The two accounting systems PRIME and MAGFARS supplied essential data but it required manual extraction and manipulation that SABRS will eliminate.
