Abstract
In this Viewpoints, Kyle Falkner, City of Fort Worth Fire Department, and Charity Menefee , Knox County TN Health Department, talk about the potential of their UVOST program (University Virtual Operations Support Team). As part of their Master's work, Kyle and Charity are examining the virtual operation support team concept, where remote volunteers can assist an agency with its social media emergency response. The program looks to local universities as partners in building student volunteer support units. These units can be trained to assist local agencies with some of their social media responsibilities, without significant increases in agency resources.
