Abstract
In this thesis the Numerical Electromagnetics Code (NEC) is used to design an omnidirectional antenna for the Petite Amateur Navy Satellite (PANSAT). The completed antenna design uses a tangential turnstile antenna to achieve a circularly polarized radiation pattern with predicted worst nulls of approximately -3.0 dBi. The use of NEC-3, recently ported to 80386 personal computers, demonstrates the potential of personal computers for performing this type of design work. A simple antenna feed system was also designed. Performance predictions for the completed antenna system were made through the applications of simple statistical functions to the NEC output.
