Abstract
Most development of Čerenkov radiation are in terms of the Fourier components of the fields and power emitted by a single electron. When many electrons in a compact bunch are emitted from an accelerator, the bunch radiates coherently and at a lower frequency than for a single electron. the theory for the time structure of the fields arising from a charge bunch is developed, and it is shown that the source of the radiation is di/dt. Present detector technology should be able to resolve those fields.
