Abstract
Professional liability is a subject of recent concern to most architects and engineers. The purpose of this paper is to trace the developments in this field from ancient times through the Federal Tort Claims Act, to the present. Professional liability will be presented from the standpoint of military architects and engineers; both United States Armed Forces personnel and United States Civil Service personnel working for the military. Liable actions and defenses will be discussed, and recommendations made which will hopefully improve the situation.
