Abstract
It is known that there is a relationship between the quality of military persons and their recruit training. This thesis examines problems of
adjustment encountered by new recruits entering the military services. Factors affecting adjustments such as the recruit background characteristics, the image of the military, the recruit training staff and environment, and the recruiting process are discussed. It is demonstrated that additional knowledge can be gained by ascertaining what motivates military personnel to make a career of the military service. A feasible systematic process is proposed for the development of recruit training.
