Abstract
From "Your Town" television show. Donald "Red" Layton and his wife Kathleen were married in the Navy's airship hangar at Lakehurst, New Jersey. In 1951, as an aeronautical engineering student family at the Naval Postgraduate School at Annapolis, they packed up their household goods and trekked to Monterey, California when the school completed its formal campus transfer to the former Hotel Del Monte. Red and Kathy, along with electrical engineering Professor Conley Smith who also made the move, relive these times. Also interviewed are Dr. Rudy Panholzer, an electrical engineering professor who joined the Naval Postgraduate School faculty shortly after the Soviet Union launched Sputnik, and NPS alumnus and astronaut with four space missions, retired Captain Dan Bursch. The interviews were conducted on the Your Town Television program in 2007. John Sanders is the program host and interviewer.
