Abstract
The determination-, of elastic: properties, of : crystals :by
sound velocity measurements is: facilitated by use -.of :'ai
perturbation solution, to the: equations of motion for: sound
waves propagating in. the crystals:. . Transformation, equations
can relate the solution for.' arbitrary porpagat ion direction
to an established crystal, coordinate system. A, method of
calculating the acoustic: components of the energy; flow vector
is developed for several, high symmetry crystal-classes . The
validity of this- method 1st herein- confirmed and 'results are
presented which are consistent, with experimental 1 data. A
modern desk calculator was employed: to determine . solutions
for hexagonal,, cubic: and tetragonal: crystals. .
