Abstract
We derive the closed form expression for the probability of bit error in direct detection, dense wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) fiber optic systems employing 00K as the modulation technique and single- cavity Fabry-Perot (FP) filters in the receiver as demultiplexers. The expression is derived in the time domain using the impulse response of the single-cavity Fabry-Perot filter and the complex baseband equivalent of the received dense WDM optical signal. The two are convolved to produce the FP filtered output signal
