Abstract
Controversy and hype surround the divergent propositions that ChatGPT and other Generative Al innovations are dangerous and should be banned, or are benign and should be embraced. What should we make of the claim by Henry Kissinger, Eric Schmidt, and Dan Huttenlocher in their Wall Street Journal article that recent developments in Generative Al will bring challenges and change as significant as the printing press and Enlightenment? Will Generative Al technologies fundamentally change how we think, find work, organize society, and conduct international relations and war?
