Abstract
Prologue: The Department of Defense moves and manages billions of dollars in equipment and supplies that are deployed all over the world. A central challenge is the process of tracking, requisitioning, and receiving supplies in a timely and efficient manner. In this case, involving disguised names of protagonists, a new employee, Lieutenant Pat Daly, arrives at a new duty station and is charged with a process improvement task involving expeditionary logistics. After being introduced to the commanding officer, Lieutenant Daly proceeds to interview various department leaders to understand the problems and then determine an approach for improving some of the organization’s logistics processes.
