Abstract
This thesis represents the beginning of a project that will study the behavior of emerging nation-states. The project purposes to reason by induction and analogy from the individual to the nation by aggregating individual needs, abilities, knowledge and decision rules in much the same manner that economists move from the microeconomics of the individual to the macroeconomics of the nation. This thesis reports the work to date. It consists of a description of a simple aspiration of man in an environment barren of all social interactions. the thesis represents man's effort to utilize his environment to provide the essentials for survival by modeling the interface between man and the environment in terms of man's needs, abilities, knowledge and decision rules.
