Abstract
The purpose of this project is to localize buried objects in water-saturated sand by variable incidence acoustic pulse reflections. In particular, this aluminum plates are used to model the buried objects. The sound speed and the septh of the overlying sand layer are predicted by using the T2xX2 and the ray parameter methods. The experimentally computer results have an average 3.5% depth error. The calculated speed of sound in the water-saturated sand layer differed by 8.1% between the T2xX2 and the ray parameters methods.
