Abstract
Recent legislation by Congress has provided the Navy with an institution that may well become one of the nation's outstanding graduate schools in science and technology. The two acts passed by the Eightieth Congress, and enacted into laws by the signature of the President, provide the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School with statutory authority to conduct graduate and postgraduate instruction in an unlimited variety of fields and to establish the School as an independent unit with administrative authority similar to that of the U.S. Naval Academy; they authorize also the purchase of the property at Monterey, California, for the future home of the School.
