Organizations face myriad challenges that stem from changing environments
as well as organizational pressures. The fundamental non-predictability of
the future means that organizations need to be adaptive not just to current
challenges, but also to those that might arise in the future. Leadership and
leaders have central roles in helping organizations navigate changing environments. But if the future is uncertain, how do leaders help prepare their
organizations to be more adaptive? How do they encourage, cultivate, and
build organizational capabilities that are critical for overcoming challenges
that they do not know?
