Abstract
In salvo firing, the smallest ballistic dispersion is not always most desirable. Deliberate increase of the ballistic dispersion can improve the probability of destroying the target. Our concern in this dissertation is the optimization of such "artificial 11 dispersion in two-dimensional salvo models. In some cases no closed form solution is available, but we are able to offer efficient methods for the computation or approximation of the salvo kill probability. In other cases we are able to derive approximate formulae for the optimal ballistic dispersion.
