Decision verification in quality assurance is simply the Government's determination of whether or not a contractor's inspection decisions are correct. This paper discusses procedures for accomplishing decision verification both as prescribed by directives and as actually done. It examines reasons why decision verification does not appear to be a viable element in current quality assurance programs even though this procedure is still prescribed in Navy directives for use by contract administrators. The use of operating characteristic curves as a managerial aid to determine whether or not to use decision verification is also discussed.en_US
