| dc.description.abstract | Vali Nasr, a leading specialist on Political Islam, Middle Eastern and Iranian Affairs, will deliver a talk about the current Iranian nuclear crisis, the threat it poses to the international community, and issues concerning establishing democracy in the Middle East. The Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York has written books about Islam and the Middle East, including Democracy in Iran, The Shia Revival: How Conflicts within Islam will Shape the Future, and The Islamic Leviathan: Islam and the Making of State Power. His articles have been widely published in scholarly periodicals and he has frequently contributed to the New York Times and the Washington Post. He has also been featured in interviews with CNN, BBC, PBS, National Public Radio, Public Radio International, News Hour with Jim Lehrer, CBS News and CBS 60 Minutes, and NBC Nightly News.
