Description
On Feb. 18, 1952, Secretary of the Navy Dan Kimball was a keynote speaker to dedicate the Naval Postgraduate School’s new campus in Monterey. The event marked the end of years of Navy and Congressional negotiations about the future direction for NPS and the beginning of a new era for the institution. This brown bag history program will highlight some of the important antecedents for the Monterey ceremony 55 years ago and will include first-hand accounts from pioneers who helped make Navy and NPS history. Join John Sanders, Gary Laughlin, Dr. George Haltiner, Mary Haltiner and Dr. Conley Smith to hear the compelling story of the Navy at Del Monte – from the commissioning of a World War II aviation command to the subsequent establishment of a line school, followed by the arrival of the Naval Postgraduate School.
