Abstract
This study, sponsored by the Chief of Naval Personnel, N1 Strategic Planning and Analysis Directorate, focuses on women who have been successful in this career field. They have met all the requirements of SWO officers, men or women, and they have overcome barriers not faced by their male counterparts. They have proven their value to the Navy and to the SWO community. Even so, of those interviewed all agreed that the Navy must do better if it hopes to retain more of these talented people who the Navy has interest in.
