Abstract
An Automated Scanning Monochromator was developed using an
Acton Research Corporation (ARC) monochromator, Ealing
photomultiplier tube and a Macintosh PC, in conjunction with LabVIEW
software. The LabVIEW Virtual Instrument written to operate the ARC
monochromater is a mouse-driven user-friendly program developed
specifically for automated spectral data measurements.
Resolution and sensitivity of the Automated Scanning
Monochromator system have been determined experimentally. The
Automated Monochromator was then used for spectral measurements of
a platinum lamp. Additionally, the reflectivity curve for a BaS04 coated
screen has been measured. Reflectivity measurements indicate a large
discrepancy with expected results. Further analysis of the reflectivity
experiment is required for conclusive results.
