Abstract
This paper is primarily concerned with the double balanced ring modulator using germanium crystal diodes as the rectifying elements. However, some of the basic circuit configurations well be given in a general discussion of rectifiers modulators. the remainder of the paper will be devoted to the transmission properties of the ring modulator. Although the history of these modulators is long, their design has been largely empirical with little serious attempt to analyze the finer points of the circuit operation with a view of improving them.
