Abstract
This interactive instructional illustration shows the way different wavelengths of light penetrate into the ocean. The student drags a color bar down though the 'ocean' and sees that the color red disappears first, then orange, yellow, green, and finally blue is the only color visible at depth. This also explains why the ocean is blue. Last modified: 5/18/2009
