| dc.description.abstract | This paper presents and analyzes a simple stochastic model for defense against an attacking force of tanks; the defense is made up of a mine field and a single defending tank. The approach of the paper makes use of classical applied probability notions and techniques and explicit algebraic solutions are derived that can easily yield numerical results and hence interpretable insights into the value of various tactics.
