Abstract
The investigation dealt with the numerical and experimental investigation of the effect of porosity on the vortex shedding from a cambered plate. The effect of Dorosity was incorporated into the analysis through the use of experimentally obtained pressure-drop data. The results have shown that the porosity of the existing naterials used in parachute canopies is not sufficient to eliminate the negative pressure gradient. Canopies with nonuniform porosities will have to be designed to )vercome the collapse phenomenon resulting from the unfavorable pressure gradients.
