Abstract
This thesis presents a design for a precision angular position control system for use in a proposed multiplexed imager. The control system is designed to rapidly position a disk to within a tolerance of2.5 11rad. Evaluation during the design phase shows an inherent trade-off between precision angular positioning and allowed angular velocities. Recommendations are provided for improving the time response of the control system. No testing was performed to determine the actual positioning tolerance. In theory, the control system should have a tolerance of 0.65 wad with a limiting angular velocity of 37 rpm.
