Abstract
The development of unmanned surface vessels at sea has, for many reasons, lagged the development, deployment, and employment of large numbers of unmanned aerial vehicles in the DoD, commercially and internationally, for many and diverse operations. This presentation describes what are probably the two most compelling types of USVs for immediate development in the U. S. Navy. Supporting quantitative analysis is derived from work in a new book edited by Captain Jeffrey R. Cares, USNR (Retired) .
