Abstract
This thesis evaluates the adequacy of the financial management education and training provided to Marine officers with the primary J415 Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). Utilizing the responses from a financial management education questionnaire, which was distributed to Marine Corps financial management organizations, the thesis compares the respondents perceived education
and training needs with the respondents actual education and training. The author concludes that the programs, although not entirely adequate, fulfill the minimum needs of the officers. The author recommends that to correct those inadequacies, which were reported: (1) the course of instruction at the Fiscal Accounting Clerks Course needs to be improved and (2) the officers with the primary
J415 MOS, to obtain a graduate degree in a financial management discipline, need to be
given preference in selection to a graduate school.
