Abstract
Professor Berzins is working on increasing productivity and software quality via automated decision support. He has focused on decision aids for developing and assessing software requirements for large, distributed, and real-time systems; on computer-aided maintenance of these systems; on automated decision support tools for continuously estimating and monitoring project costs and completion times; on methods for automatically generating programs from simple problem descriptions; and on automated statistical testing techniques that can provide high confidence levels in software reliability at low cost. He has methods for automating software configuration management, project scheduling, and design team coordination as well as automated decision aids for project planning and coordinating concurrent requirements determination for complex systems by teams of analysts. He is the author of books on software specifications and computer-aided software maintenance, teaches courses on software engineering, requirements analysis, and automated program generation techniques, and is developing a course on computer-aided software maintenance.
