Abstract
There are several issues that are encountered when designing a Free Electron Laser (FEL) oscillator in the terahertz (THz) regime. One such issue is that there are few inexpensive materials that are suitable for forming a semitransparent out-coupling mirror. In an attempt to mitigate this particular issue, the focus of this presentation is to explore various out-coupling techniques for a notional FEL oscillator in the THz regime. The advantages and disadvantages of several out-coupling methods will be discussed, including hole out-coupling, and double mesh outcoupling. Simulation results will be presented, showing the effects of these various methods on FEL extraction and optical beam quality.
