Abstract
Project Summary: The mine warfare community makes use of laptops for their various tasks. Since maintaining a large set of laptops can be burdensome, the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) team looked at ways to alleviate this situation. The findings suggest that the laptops are needed for various functions, but in the mine detection phase the sonar files have to be distributed (due to the large volume of data) among several laptops for human analysis, thus increasing the laptop footprint. The NPS team has looked at first organizing the sonar files so they will be searchable in an easy to use manner, and also use server clusters to divide and conquer for faster processing.
