Abstract
There exists a need for a simulation program that will enable a programmer to simulate systems such as the Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS), Marine Corps Tactical Data System (MTDS), Airborne Tactical Data System (ATDS), or any other system that uses radar or sonar information for operation. A programming project was undertaken using the Control Data 160U Computer (CDC I60U ) and the Data Display Incorporated model dd65 Display Console (DD65) as the basic hardware. The program developed features on-line control of the CDC 1604 by the DD65, display of simulated targets and messages on the DD65, control of tracks by operating personnel from the DD65, continuous graph output for permanent record purposes, and real time or double real time operation. This program can be expanded to provide more features of any of the tactical data systems by the addition of the appropriate subroutines.
