Abstract
The Stanford Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) has done extensive research on the diverse U.S.-Russian cooperative nonproliferation programs. This project will build on that body of work to examine a range of specific cooperative options that might be implemented to improve joint U.S. and China capabilities to better manage regional nuclear threats and crisis scenarios. CISAC will consider status monitoring, abnormal event information availability and uncertainty, escalation of defense postures in times of crisis, protocols for international information sharing in instances where joint action is needed, and technical/decision systems that might provide the basis for a successful response.
