A digital computer program was developed to find the buckling coefficient for rectangular plates with all edges simply supported or with all edges clamped. A finite difference technique is used to solve the partial differential equation for the deflection of a plate classically treated as having only a small deflection compared to its thickness, The program was prepared to take for an input the stresses at nodes formed by the grids dividing the plate into rectangles The stresses and deflections at each node are used in writing difference equation. An extrapolation formula is featured in the program which allows a close approximation to the buckling coefficient without necessitating the use of a large number of grid nodes. The program was written in FORTRAN 60 but must be used as a FORTRAN 63 program to take advantage of some of its inherent flexibilities. Information is provided in the output of the program which aids in evaluating the reliability of a solution.en_US
