dc.description.abstract | This thesis examines present methodology in the Marine Corps for obtaining data required in support of the Commercial Activities (CA) inventory report and the cost comparison analysis. It also presents a proposal for improving on present procedures by tasking the Marine Corps' Standard Accounting, Budgeting and Reporting System (SABRS) with meeting CA data requirements. In addition to an author-conducted survey of present procedures for CA data extraction, background information is provided on the CA Program. A discussion is also provided on the objectives, design characteristics, hardware configuration, and software capability of SABRS . The purpose of this discussion is to highlight capabilities and design characteristics that lend themselves to CA data requirements. System impact is presented in a separate chapter which is intended to serve as a working document in relating CA user needs to SABRS system designers. Conclusions and recommendations focus on specific managerial actions that the author feels are important to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of CA data extraction in the Marine Corps. | |
