Abstract
In meteorology, as in many other sciences, the increasing application of statistical methods has produced valuable empirical results as well as aiding in the development of laws explaining natural phenomena. It is the purpose of this investigation to test the significance of some existing qualitative empirical rules for forecasting highlevel pressure changes and, further, to develop objective quantitative techniques, if possible.
