Abstract
Using the questionnaire results from the Marine Corps Task Analysis Program, an investigation was made into the job factors affecting the reenlistment decisions of enlisted Marines in the telecommunications field --operational communications and telecommunications maintenance. The results showed that career satisfaction is the main correlate with reenlistment for both first-term and career Marines although the job factors supporting this vary between and within the career groups. For first term Marines, feelings of achievement and interest in the work itself were common job factors which were significantly different for the dichotomized reenlistment decision. For the first-term operational communicators, family and social life perceptions were also significant. Career Marines' perceptions included all intrinsic job factors as significantly different. Pay, policy matters, peers, and supervisors were significantly extrinsic factors affecting the reenlistment decision.
