Abstract
Research was conducted to demonstrate the applicability of artificial intelligence zechniques to the problem of estimating blood resupply requirements in Navy medical mits supporting Marine Corps commands engaged in combat operations. Prototyping tiethodology was used to develop a combination expert system and decision support system, termed an expert support system, which was named HEMOS (Hemologic Expert support System for Marine Corps Operational Support) . The prototype system was ;ested and compared with state of the art manual techniques, and was found to be lotably more accurate in forecasting blood resupply requirements.
