Abstract
The design of a small transonic research compressor is reviewed briefly. The design was one carried out by M. H. Vavra before 1970 without resort to computer programs. The effect of an error made in the calculation of setting angles for the rotor blading is judged to be serious near the blade tip. A possible mismatch to the stator is suggested and it is recommended that the possibility of structually correcting the stagger at the tip be considered.
