Abstract
The purpose of this research was to develop an application of multiattribute utility theory to the person-job match problem. An index of attrition severity was developed using five factors: retention rate, personnel replacement cost, rating size, rating requirements, and rating priority. Multiplicative and additive forms of attrition-severity functions were developed and compared. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to assess utility functions and factor weights.
