Abstract
The European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) began. operating in 1958 and, along with the European Economic Community (EEC), represented a functional approach to the problem of revitalizing the drive toward integration in Europe. From the outset most qualified observers expressed high regard for the chance.of Euratom's success, primarily because of the economic promise of nuclear power.
