Abstract
The Stroop color-word test was iised as an anxiety provoking situation, in an attempt to isolate the effects of such anxiety on pupillary tehavior, A TY Pupillometer was utilized to measure the pupil diameter during testing. Although the confrontation with the anxiety provoking situation did produce the anticipated pupil dilations, the data was felt to be contaminated by a confounding variable and the high variability attributed to the subjects. As a result, no conclusive evidence was obtained to either support or repute the association of anxiety with the observed pupillary reactions. The results are significant, in that the commonly accepted association of anxiety and pupillary dilations was not supported.
