Abstract
Problem Statement: The team objective was to compare the ground-based fire support capabilities of the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in order to gain insights that are relevant to organizing the MEU for operations. Specifically, two systems, the Expeditionary Fire Support System (EFSS) and the 155mm lightweight howitzer (M777), were the focus of the analytic effort. The scenario for the comparison employed Ship-To-Objective Maneuver (STOM) tactics and USMC Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare doctrine.
