Abstract
In the early days of steam generation for power, saturated steam was used a great deal, but in order to achieve higher thermal efficiencies and reduce errosion of steam turbine blading the steam power industry rapidly extended steam conditions into the superheat region. Except for a small amount of data recorded for boiling in vertical tubes with free convection no extensive study had been made of the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of wet steam.
