Abstract
This interactive tutorial addresses isolation mount design. Students get to work on a problem of installing a washing machine on a tactical submarine, and determine the isolation mount stiffness that would achieve at least 80% reduction in transmitted force. The interactions involve students selecting a spring, and using the Frequency Response Function (FRF) vs. Frequency graph and Transmissibility (TR) vs. Frequency graph to determine if the spring would meet the given design criteria.
