Abstract
This thesis studies the inherent angular errors of a phase comparison mcnopulse system used for tracking a complex target. The phase compensation equation is utilized in justifying Howard's hypothesis on the relationship between the phase front distortion of the scattered wave from a complex target and angular tracking errors, in extending this hypothesis to closer ranges to the target, and in determining the limitations of this hypothesis. Through the phase compensation equation, global errors are demonstrated. A Local error bound is also determined for the tracking of a two element target. These new results are not predicted by Howard's hypothesis.
