Abstract
A method for the interpretation of electrocardiographic waveforms
by correlation analysis has been investigated. Both the autocorrelation
function and the crosscorrelation function are employed in the analysis.
The electrocardiographic signals of thirty-six patients, including
normal persons and those with specific diagnosed coronary pathology,
have been analyzed. Electrocardiographic signs of abnormal heart rate,
rhythm, and conduction patterns may be detected by correlation methods;
however, the correlated waveform does not appear to be useful in determining
the specific abnormality.
