Abstract
This thesis examines the "Problem Solving Skills for Managers"
training package, piloted by the Coast Guard Leadership and
Management School in April 1983. Four questionnaire instruments
developed by the company which produced the training package
were analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the training
program. A quasi-experimental pre-test /post-test /control
group research design was used by the Coast Guard project manager and this thesis used a regression procedure to counteract
any regression effect. The results of the analysis
suggest that the training program was not effective as given
and suggests further study to determine why it was not
effective
