Abstract
Kimbley Craig, a Councilwoman for California’s 5th District, and Major Manny Morales of the Miami Police Department discuss how law enforcement and local politicians can work together more effectively. Public safety is a shared responsibility, as law enforcement personnel must have the tools and manpower to create safe communities. Policymakers must be cognizant of that while still maintaining resources for infrastructure, education and other community necessities. Building trust between these two groups can be challenging, but is essential to a build a safe and cohesive place to live for all residents.
